Air Congo has been involved in a lot of trade talks recently but one of the main ones to emerge in the past day or so is the prospect of Ibaka joining up with the Houston Rockets who are looking to strengthen their side before the Playoffs begin.
With only 3 or 4 months remaining on his contract, Ibaka will only be sought after by teams who would look into possibly resigning him after his current contract runs out, the Houston Rockets being one of those teams.
The big man from the Congo has averaged 15.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg so far in the season through 53 games for the Orlando Magic but with the Magic facing the possibility of Ibaka walking out the door of Orlando and getting nothing in exchange, the Magic will want a trade in order to gain something from their best player.
Ibaka could slot in well with the Rockets if he were to be traded to Houston and his defensive presence would surely help the Rockets big time as they hope to progress far into the Playoffs this year being led by ‘The Beard’ - James Harden.
The Rockets have some pieces that could interest the Magic but it has still not been clarified who the Rockets would offer up in return for Ibaka.
Maybe we could see the Rockets try to do a deal to swap current starting power forward, Ryan Anderson straight for Ibaka or else we could see the Rockets trade away young players to the Magic like Sam Dekker and Tyler Ennis in exchange for the power forward.
This is a deal that will be finalized in the next few days if it’s going to happen so it will be interesting to find out if we will actually be seeing Ibaka in a Rockets unit after an NBA All-Star.
