Some NBA fans are still scratching their heads after the deal that sent All-Star Paul George to Oklahoma City in return for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, especially when you consider the recent news explaining how other teams offered much more than 2 role players for the swingman.
Apparently, one of those teams were the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were inches away from completing a deal to land George, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
"It was so close in fact that Indiana was about to give permission to Paul George to get on the phone with Dan Gilbert."
If you were about to give permission for your player to call the owner of the team you were trading him to, things must've been 99% complete.
If this story is true, it makes you wonder what the Cavs would have offered Indiana for PG13. Anything would've been better than Oladipo and Sabonis surely. Maybe Kevin Love could've been heading to Indy?
Whatever the case, the Pacers front office must be kicking themselves they didn't agree on a deal sooner to ship George away, as they could've demanded a lot more from any team who wanted him.
