When Andrew Wiggins heard his name called on draft night, excitement was no doubt at the front of his mind. Although it looked like he'd be there long term at first, he would never play a game for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As we all know, LeBron James came back home that summer, and Andrew Wiggings was eventually traded to the Timberwolves for NBA star, Kevin Love.
3 years later, Wiggins could be on his way back.
A report by Associated Press NBA Insider Jon Krawczynski claims that the Timberwolves are exploring trades with "incredible seriousness." While he does admit that he's not sure whether or not they'd be willing to give up Andrew Wiggins, it's looking like they might be willing to part ways with him to get their hands on Kyrie Irving.
This summer was amazing for Minnesota. They acquired Jimmy Butler in a draft day trade and managed to lock up Jeff Teague and Jamal Crawford during Free Agency. On the sidelines as coach and President of Basketball Operations stands Tom Thibodeau, a true basketball stud in the minds of basketball experts everywhere.
With all these new pieces, the T-Wolves are headed down a path they haven't seen since the days of K.G. With all that being said, why wouldn't they want to go all in with Kyrie Irving?
The Cavs would be much more inclined to take a deal that included Wiggins, as he's one of the most promising young players in the league. Yes, he's a vital piece of the team, and the Wolves already have Jeff Teague, who won't be able to get traded for a few more months.
But Kyrie is worth the hassle. With the T-Wolves getting hungrier by the day, and the Cavs rejecting offers left and right, Thibs might finally be ready to say goodbye to Andrew Wiggins. The desperation is growing for both sides.
