NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Best Destinations for Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez is the starting center for the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are not having a good season and there is a talk of them possibly tanking and starting all over. For the Nets to do this they would need a center piece to build around and they were hoping that it would be Brook Lopez, but that has no planned out and Brook has stayed averaging 20 points with 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Those numbers along with a defense that has been subpar at best combine for a trade in the making.

The reason for the Nets keeping Brook on the team is the same reason that DeMarcus Cousins is still on the Kings: he is their best player. The GM’s do not seem to care whether he is blending well with the team (he is not). They merely care about how they finally have a good player and that’s all it is going to take.

The Nets are in a tough spot because they must rebuild their team but they cannot because they don’t have any draft picks to do so. Brooklyn’s only picks are 2 picks in the second round of the 2017 draft and those are there only picks for the next 2 years. Brook Lopez needs to be traded so that the Nets can unload some salary to create cap space so that they can possibly attract a big name in free agency.

The time is now to trade Brook Lopez because there is a big market right now for offensive centers. Look at Jahlil Okafor, he was highly sought after because of his offensive talent. Here are three destinations for Brook Lopez.

Chicago Bulls

Right now, the Bulls starting center is Robin Lopez, Brook’s brother, and he is mediocre at best. He is not a top center by any means of the imagination, but he can start for most NBA teams right now. Brook Lopez can add an offensive presence in the paint that is lacking with Robin Lopez. Brook may not be the best rebounder in the league but the Bulls can add another power in the paint.

Rajon Rondo needs a better center so he can convert his passing skills. Remember when he played with DeMarucs Cousins, he had 11.7 assists per game.

Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler will have more space and a little bit more isolation with Brook Lopez on the court.

Trade Package: Robin Lopez and 2017 first-round pick for Brook Lopez (Of course, they could decide to keep Robin, and have brothers on their roster, why not?)

Dallas Mavericks

Mavs are currently starting Andrew Bogut at center and he’s a rebound machine averaging 11 rebounds per game right now. But on the offensive end, he is just not cutting it. The Mavs need all the help they can get on both sides of the ball, and the offense seems like the first step in the right direction.

According to Hoops Habit, Brooklyn thinks that the appeal in making this trade would be Bogut's expiring contract and the potential to land a first-round draft pick. If the Nets could somehow convince the Mavericks to give up Bogut's expiring contract, Dwight Powell and a first-rounder. It will likely be a victory for both sides.

Milwaukee Bucks

At this moment, only Antetokoumpo and Jabari Parker have more than 10 points per game. We already expect from them to trade Greg Monroe and that could be a great situation for both teams, Brooklyn and Milwaukee.

They can have a very easy trade: Greg Monroe + 2018 second round pick (from Dallas) for Brook Lopez.

Milwaukee should react very quick because many teams negotiate with the Nets.

The Bucks need to add a little bit more support for Giannis Antetokounmpo because they are not amongst top teams in the Eastern Conference right now.
