The Cleveland Cavaliers have been, without any single kind of doubt, the best team in the Eastern conference since LeBron James announced his decision to return to his hometown to try and finally pursue that promised ring for the city of Cleveland.
Three seasons in, the Cavs are already the defending champions, but you know that Bron isn’t satisfied quite yet, although he’s going to have it quite tough to win another championship if he has to face the Golden State Warriors.
Truth to be told, it takes way more than what the Cavs have shown over the course of this season to defeat arguably the most overpowered squad the game has ever seen, with Kevin Durant being the ultimate reinforcement anybody could expect.
So, the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to be one of the most aggressive teams during this upcoming offseason, as they’re going to need as much help as they can get if they want to get back on track against Steve Kerr and his boys.
One of the main concerns in the Cavs besides a natural playmaker to free both Kyrie and LeBron from that duties has been having a dominant big man that could matchup nice against the Warriors.
And even if Kevin Love has emerged as one of the top role players in the Association as a very productive power forward, he’s constantly been the odd man out in Cleveland and the first guy you hear in trade rumors at “The Land."
So, it’s only safe to expect that Love is yet again on the trade block after this NBA finals, with the Cleveland Cavaliers set to pursue different role players and try and make a big time free agency signing to try and make yet another run at the ring.
But, who could that guy be? Well, rumors state that Dan Gilbert and his staff are more than ready to put an offer sheet on the table for the former Sacramento King big man, DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins recently teamed up with Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis to try and make a run at the playoffs, having an outstanding season but falling short of the goal yet again, and he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason.
DeMarcus has been a very problematic guy due to his temper and lack of discipline, but he’s one of the most determined guys you’ll find on an NBA court and he’s made it very clear that he wants to win and he wants to do it now.
Of course, having Cousins and LeBron in the same locker room could be as dangerous as productive, but the Cavs being Cousins’ best shot at the ring, we’d expect the big man to suck it up and just ball.
At this point, this if speculation, but given the new CBA, the Cavs may actually pull this move off, so we’ll have to wait and see how this winds up, but you can’t say it wouldn’t be great to watch.
