Even though the NBA season started over a month ago and most of the blockbuster trades have been completed, new trade rumors are flying around nearly every single day. Some of them have the potential to really change the current landscape of the NBA. So let's take a closer look at five of the most intriuging trade rummors floating around the NBA at the moment.
5. Nerlens Noel (Houston Rockets) - 4.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 0.4 APG
Because of very little time in the Mavericks’ rotation, Noel has asked the front office for a trade. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Houston Rockets are interested in the 23-year-old center.
He would probably fit in as a substitution for the Rockets’ starting center, Clint Capela. Noel really wants to rekindle some of his form from the 2015-16 season, where he averaged 11.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest.
4. DeAndre Jordan (Multiple Offers) - 10.1 PPG, 13.7 RPG, 0.9 APG
According to multiple sources, including Bleacher Report, a few teams have been in discussions with the Los Angeles Clippers in regards to trading 29-year old center DeAndre Jordan. DJ could be a really solid option for the title-hunting Cleveland Cavaliers. Recieving the Nets' first-round draft pick for 2018 in the Thomas-Irving trade, the Cavs may try to get DeAndre, who would easily play at starting center for the contender. For the Cavaliers -- who have huge defensive troubles this season -- adding a 2-time All-Defensive Team member would be a great fit.
3. Jahlil Okafor (Multiple Offers) - 5.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 0.5 APG
There were many rumors hinting at where 2015 draft pick Jahlil Okafor could be traded to this season, as the Philadelphia 76ers have made it known they're looking for a trade target. The 76ers are waiting for a trade that would bring them something of value. Meanwhile, Okafor has played in only 2 games so far this season, and his fate is still uncertain in Philly. A member of the 2015-16 NBA All-Rookie Team, Okafor will become a free agent after this season.
If a suitable trade partner cannot be found soon for Okafor, the 76ers may be forced to buy out the disgruntled center's contract just to free him from the team. If that does happen to become reality, Okafor will become a free agent, and many teams will be lining up for the former number three overall pick's services, including the contending Boston Celtics.
2. Julius Randle (Free Agency) - 12.1 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.7 APG
The 23-year old power forward will become a free agent after the 2017-18 season, meaning the Lakers have been rumored to be looking to offload the big man as they don't want to pay him come free agency time to save cap space. Due to the rebuilding project in Los Angeles, Randle has not started a single game so far for the Lakers.
He could be a useful option even as a starter for many teams in the league. Randle has been forced to deal with limited minutes this season after starting in 73 games last season, averaging 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds a game. Everything depends on if Lakers President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson will decide to give Randle a contract extension before the deadline or trade him before his current deal finishes up.
1. Derrick Favors (Free Agency) - 11.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.4 APG
The 26-year old power forward is currently playing for the Utah Jazz, the team which traded for him midway through his rookie year in 2011. Even though the team from Salt Lake City lost Gordon Hayward in free agency this past offseason, after 19 games of the young NBA season, the Jazz are ninth in the Western Conference and will do their best to reach the playoffs with Rudy Gobert leading the charge.
Favors has been playing as the starting power forward in every game of the season so far for Utah. His decision is highly dependant on the Jazz’s record come April 2018. If they don't look like they're going to make the playoffs, the front office will have to do its best to re-sign Favors before he heads off for greener pastures.
