Foot Locker seem to have a knack for viral advertising campaigns, don't they?
The shoe and apparel retailer has released a new ad for Father's Day, consisting of several NBA Draft prospects talking about what their dads mean to them ahead of Father’s Day and the Draft. The starring prospects include Johnathan Isaac, De'Aaron Fox, Jayson Tatum and of course, Lonzo Ball.
Most of the men share stories of how their fathers have helped them in their journey to the NBA, but not Lonzo. The UCLA product pokes fun at his outspoken father, mentioning all the things LaVar has caused controversy with.
“Of course there’s that big day where your dad berates your high school coach — in front of an entire crowd, for not getting you enough touches. Or that special moment where your dad sits you down and tells you where you’re going to college — copyrights your name to make it part of a family lifestyle brand. Went on First Take and shouted back and forth with Stephen A. Smith about how you’re already better than the reigning league MVP. All those interviews from the stands during college games. The public spats with all-time greats. Sound byte after sound byte to the national media — and then tells 29 out of 30 teams to not bother drafting you.”
It's great to see the Ball family able to have a laugh about how LaVar acts, and even if it won't change the opinion of LaVar Ball in many eyes, it may help along Lonzo Ball's public image a little.
The guard from Chino Hills will be hoping to be one of the first three names called out during the 2017 Draft, being broadcast on June 22.
