As we all know, comedy is a big part of hosting an awards show, as fun and light-hearted jokes gets the crowd and audience involved in the show. It's even better when the content of the jokes revolves around audience members.
During the introduction of Wednesday's 25th annual ESPY awards, host and NFL legend Peyton Manning got a dig in at Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant, suggesting KD would try and join Team USA's dominant gymnastics team.
“Our gymnastics team was so dominant that Kevin Durant told me he wants to play for them next year," Manning said.
As you can see by Durant's reaction, he was far from impressed by the joke. He even tweeted his displeasure.
But was it all an inside joke? Did we all just get played?
According to ESPN's Chris Haynes, Kevin Durant already knew about the joke, and his reaction was just part of the punchline.
Regardless whether he was acting or not, KD had a pretty successful night, taking home the ESPY for Best Championship Performance for his play in June's NBA Finals, where his Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games and he took home Finals MVP honors. His Warriors also won the ESPY for Best Team.
Maybe Durant has a future in acting, just like LeBron or Jordan?
