LeBron James has been hailed as many things over the face of his career. The Chosen One, the King, the G.O.A.T., and even the "perfect teammate." According to experts and inside sources, anybody that goes to play with King James gets better. He brings championship pedigree, a first class attitude, and an instant picket to the NBA Finals. Who'd ever want to leave that?
In Boston, I.T. was a bonafide MVP candidate. He helped launch the Celtics into Championship contention. In Cleveland, however, he was given much of the blame for much of their struggles. Things just weren't right.
Why is that? Why did Isaiah Thomas not get better playing with the "perfect teammate"?
Judging by Kyrie and, now, Thomas, is it possible that LeBron isn't as perfect as he appears to be?
In a report by ESPN's Chris Broussard, not only did things not work out between Thomas and LeBron, but there was no love there to begin with.
"I was talking to somebody yesterday close to Isaiah, and they said he has absolutely no love at all for LeBron. This is real," Broussard said Tuesday on Undisputed. "He felt like LeBron kind of talked down to him when he was there. When Isaiah first got there they actually were hanging out a little bit and it was cool, but it soured pretty quickly."
It's no secret that Isaiah is not the easiest player to get along with. But for things to sour so quickly makes it seem like there's something deeper going on.
Regardless, both players have gone their own way now. With I.T. in Los Angeles and LeBron leading his new look Cavs to the playoffs, we'll see who gets the better hand here. Safe to say that this is one relationship that was never meant to be.
