Just six minutes into the 2017-18 basketball year, and Gordon Hayward's season seemed at a close.
A gruesome injury that shocked viewers worldwide became a national story. The once daunting and legit-looking Celtics now looked much more vulnerable without their second best player.
But over two weeks later, and it appears things are already on the mend... and on a come-back pace much faster than most thought. According to ESPN's Chris Forsberg, Hayward is already out of a cast and in a walking boot, taking shots in a chair to keep his form at its peak.
Considering the magnitude and sheer look of the injury, everyone naturally assumed the worst. Nobody thought that he'd be coming back this season.
If you ask Hayward though, he has different plans. It will take some more time to get him fully healed and in game shape again, but according to how things are going so far, the Boston forward will be back on the hardwood in no-time.
