When Michael Jordan transitioned to baseball after his first retirement, many weren't sure what to think. As an athlete, he had a natural leg-up in just about any sport he played... but he'd never be as good in baseball as he was in basketball. And, to be frank, the whole thing just felt weird.
Since then, no big NBA player has ever tried a move of that nature.
So when Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith began his social media crusade to bring LeBron James to the National Football League, it raised a lot of eyebrows. Sure, it would be exciting and fresh to see King James on the field every Sunday. But the thought of him in another sport just wouldn't sit right in a lot of people's minds.
Apparently, LeBron himself is one of those people. Concerning the whole idea, LeBron finally spoke up and put the whole thing to bed.
"Nah, I'm fine with my sport I got... I'm a tank top and shorts guy."
Not the most detailed answer, but still a definitive one at that. Unlike the case with Jordan, there will be no big transition here.
So to all those hoping to see LeBron in a helmet and some pads, that's something you'll just have to keep dreaming about. LBJ is a basketball-lifer, and that's probably a good thing.
