Lakers Rumors: Is Dwayne Wade The Next L.A. Star?

Dwyane Wade has always been one of the league’s elite player since making his pro debut, even sometimes being considered the best shooting guard in the league despite having played in the same era than other standout SG’s like Kobe Bryant.

But, what may seem surprising right now, is the fact that Wade might as well take former Kobe’s spot in LA, as some rumors have quickly emerged stating that Pelinka and Magic Johnson are interested in pursuing The Flash.

The 13-year veteran has made it to 12 All-Stars, as well as winning 3 Championships and 1 NBA Finals MVP, becoming one of the best two-way backcourt players in the history of the league with his ability to push the pace and also play suffocating defense against top-notch players.

And even at age 35, the Chicago Native had a very solid season with his Chicago Bulls, averaging 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 dimes per contest and showing glances of his natural speed and athleticism despite not being a teenager anymore.

So, with the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly keen to bring LeBron James to the Staples Center at all costs alongside Paul George for 2018, apparently the wheels are also in motion to try and lure Wade to Los Angeles to help them recruit King James.

Wade decided to opt in on his deal despite Jimmy Butler’s departure to the Minnesota Timberwolves stating that he wanted to win a lot of cash, so that could be a problem when time comes, but giving him a realistic opportunity to win another Championship alongside his long time buddy would definitely make things way more interesting.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he reported on The Jump that if the Bulls were considering dealing Wade, the Lakers were interested:

“Well, after Dwyane Wade opted back into his contract for this year and then Jimmy Butler got traded, Dwyane was trying to figure out, “Are we going to go forward here in Chicago?”. He’s going to get his money, he’s going to get that 20-plus million, but the Lakers had interest if Chicago was A. Willing to potentially trade him or if Dwyane had gotten a buyout in Chicago the Lakers absolutely had interest in signing him, but once that space got filled up by Caldwell-Pope that wasn’t on the board.”

The Lakers are on the verge of a transition year with standout prospect Lonzo Ball coming out of UCLA to have his first season with the pros, hoping he’ll be more than ready to play alongside PG-13 and hopefully LeBron as well at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

Of course, there’s a lot of speculation regarding this matter at this point, but look for the Lakers to be quite aggressive in their pursuit for Wade, as there is a really big chance that the Bulls wind up buying him out after they struggle throughout the first couple of months of the season.

It could be really awesome to watch Lonzo Ball and Dwyane Wade on the court, and Los Angeles Lakers could finally play in the NBA Playoffs after 4 seasons.
