For some reason, Klay Thompson seems like a pretty funny guy both on and off the court -- all you need to do is look at his recent trip to China to determine that -- and he's lived up to that monikier with his most recent comments on Wizards forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
During Friday's game between the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors, things lot a little heated between Bradley Beal and Draymond Green in the third quarter, leading to a pretty large scuffle and a few ripped jerseys.
Almost every player on the court jumped into the encounter to protect their fellow teammate, including both Klay Thompson and Kelly Oubre Jr., the latter of which took some liberties with his fists while the scrum was being broken up. If you notice in the video, Oubre is spotted swinging his fists as backup arrives, first clubbing teammate John Wall over the head accidentally, then making contact with Thompson's head multiple times.
Refs at the time didn't see Oubre's actions, but it's believed he'll be facing some form of punishment after the fact. Klay however, doesn't see the seriousness of the situation, via The Athletic:
"Video showed Oubre caught John Wall, his teammate, in the back of the head and Klay Thompson in the face. “Those were caresses,” Thompson said, demonstrating on Pachulia's face."
Thompson obviously wasn't too phased with the hits he received during the fight, using the opportunity to throw a little shade at Oubre Jr. as well. Hopefully this leads to some sort of semi-rivalry between Washington and Golden State the next time these two teams meet.
