The internet can be a very cruel and relentless place, and that's doubly so for celebrities and their social media accounts, as Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant found out this week.

Wanting to connect more with his fans, Durant made a new Instagram account, which quickly racked up 8.6 million followers after he mysteriously deleted his old Instagram account in September of 2016.

The Durantula made his first post yesterday, a picture of himself riding through the streets of Maryland with the Larry O'Brien trophy in the back of a convertible. The post quickly racked up a quarter of a million likes in only 12 hours, but what's more noticeable are some of the comments made by fans.

As you can see, fans didn't care much for the candid picture of Durant and the NBA championship, more concerned with spamming snake emojis all over his comments section.

As everyone knows, KD was labeled a snake for ditching teammate Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency of 2016, opting to sign with the 73-9 Golden State Warriors.

Even after winning an NBA championship and the Finals MVP, and hitting one of the biggest shots of his career over LeBron James in Game 3 of the Finals to help the Warriors take a 3-0 lead over the Cavs, 'fans' and haters alike haven't forgotten about the incident that started it all.

Of course, Durant's most likely happy to take all of these comments in his stride, as he has proven that he made the right decision, evident by the big gold trophy he has sitting next to him in that car above.
