With so many questions surrounding the 2017-18 season, one of the biggest ones still waits to be answered: what the heck is going on with Kawhi Leonard?
After suffering a seemingly minor injury in the summer, Kawhi has missed the first month of the 2017-18 season, and no return date has been set. Finally, it seems that coach Pop has shed some light on the issue:
“Oh, sure. He’s gonna be back sooner rather than later.”
And when asked about the state of the team pop replied with:
“A team just has to play in a sense like he doesn’t exist,” Popovich said. “Nobody cares if you lost a good player, right? Everybody wants to whip you. So it doesn’t do much good to do the poor me thing or to keep wondering when he is going to be back or what are we going to do. We have to play now, and other people have to take up those minutes and we have to figure out who to go to when in a different way, and you just move on.”
It looks like Kawhi will make his way back to the court shortly, and it can't come soon enough.
Being 9-5, and winning tonight's game against the Mavericks, the Spurs have been decent in his absence. But they haven't been their usual dominant selves.
So, for the Spurs' sake, let us hope Kawhi gets back soon so we can witness typical San Antonio greatness once again.
