Two days ago, defensive-minded forward Jae Crowder was involved in the huge trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, the Nets' 2018 pick and Crowder himself.
The trade was (and still is) the talk of the NBA world, but for Crowder, being traded was unfortunately not the biggest piece of news he would receive that night.
After a long battle with cancer, Crowder's mother Helen Crowder passed away mere hours after Jae was traded.
Depending on how Crowder felt about moving to Cleveland, the rollercoaster of emotions he must've been put through that night would've been unfathomable.
No matter what team you're a fan of, you have to feel for Crowder during this difficult time. I have no doubt he has chosen to completely ignore all basketball-related talk while mourning for his late mother, as family always comes first.
The Cavaliers' organization will no doubt give Jae all the time he needs to get his thoughts in order before dealing with any basketball activities, and I have a feeling Isaiah Thomas will be right there supporting him.
We here at Fadeaway World offer our condolences to Jae and the entire Crowder family. RIP.
