After the craziness that was the NBA offseason, you'd be hard-pressed to find an NBA fan who isn't excited about the upcoming season.
After all the moves multiple teams made, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers, it's not surprising to learn that most of the players are looking forward to opening night, and that bunch includes shooting guard J.R. Smith.
Smith is so excited in fact, he thinks that the Cavs are going to be even better than last year due to all the acquisitions they've made this offseason to fill out their bench.
Shot at Kyrie perhaps?
Even though they did manage to pick up players such as Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade, they did have to trade a major part of their core in the form of Irving to nab Isaiah Thomas. With Smith's comments, he may be inferring that despite the loss of Kyrie, they're going to perform better than last season when Kyrie was running point for Cleveland.
J.R.'s comments may not even be that far-fetched anyhow. The Cavs have multiple All-Stars on their roster (past and present) and have a lot of bench talent along with playoff-experienced veterans.
With the Cavaliers bolstering their roster massively, along with the improvements to multiple teams in the Western Conference, the upcoming season is shaping up to be very exciting.
