Enes Kanter Roasts Turkish Government With Response To Reports Of Him Being Wanted

New York Knicks center Enes Kanter has been having a pretty tough time with his home country of Turkey as of late.

It was reported early yesterday that Kanter was wanted by Turkish prosecutors after Enes repeatedly insulted Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which is a criminal offense to do so. The prosecutors are reportedly looking to sentence Kanter to a four-year jail term.

Kanter has been a long-time opponent of Erdogan, who has done some pretty nasty things back in Kanter's home country, so Enes obviously cannot return to Turkey, most likely for the rest of his life. It's so bad that Kanter's own family members have disowned him because of his comments towards the Turkish leader.

Because Kanter can't return to Turkey, he'll be tried in absentia, meaning court proceedings will happen without him present, meaning he has no way to defend himself in court, most likely leading to his prosecution. Thankfully for Kanter, as he resides in the US, he should be more than okay.

Once news of the reported jail sentence hit Kanter, he was surprisingly all smiles, and took the opportunity to roast Turkish officials in the process.

Kanter has to now be considered one of the toughest S.O.B's in the NBA after those comments. First, it was LeBron, not backing down from one of the best players in the league, and now that he has a whole government on his tail, he still doesn't care one bit.

You can bet that Knicks' fans, as well as NBA fans as a whole, are behind Kanter during this international incident.
