C.J McCollum is slowly becoming one of the best guards in the association this season, and if you couldn't tell from his great numbers and production this season, you could definitely tell by his demeanour on the court.
In a matchup between McCollum's Trail Blazers and the Orlando Magic on November 15th, C.J. got into an altercation with French guard Evan Fournier. Many questioned McCollum's behavior during the scrum, as he proceeded to blow kisses towards Fournier -- quite suspect. But in an interview with The Flagrant Two podcast (h/t SBNation), C.J. says he was up to even more antics while up in Fournier's face.
"I just felt like he disrespected me by putting his hands on me," McCollum said. "Obviously, I'm not trying to get any fines or anything of that nature and I told him he was sweet. He's French, and I said that, 'you're sweet and soft like those crepes you eat.' "
Fournier started the confrontation by pushing C.J., and McCollum hit back with that sweet one-liner. Words were exchanged, and the Portland shooting guard proceeded to blow kisses in the Frenchman's direction.
Of course, both men were at fault and both got handed technical fouls for their involvement. It's unknown whether this was a once-off affair between competitors, or if this could be a mini-rivalry brewing between the two. The only time we'll find out is when the two franchises meet again on December 15th.
