Rajon Rondo has made his decision.
Rajon Rondo is headed West to reunite with big man Demarcus Cousins in New Orleans. According to Shams Charania of the Vertical, he has agreed to a one year deal with the Pelicans.
He will likely serve as their backup point guard, considering the type of deal the Pelicans gave Jrue Holiday. The details of Rondo’s contract have not been released, but he has agreed to join the Pelicans.
Rajon Rondo will provide three critical criteria for the Pelicans. First being experience, at 31 years old, Rajon Rondo has seen it all in the NBA. Years of deep playoff runs with Boston and a championship in '08. He will be able to serve as a mentor to Jrue Holiday and other younger players in NOLA. Showing them the work ethic and drive it takes to make it in this league. Second, he will bring one of the better basketball IQ’s in the game. Rondo sees the game in slow-mo and every play is well thought out before it happens. Lastly, he brings a competitive fire that is needed on a young team to win ball games.
This isn’t the last move but it will surely help New Orleans compete in a loaded West.
