The smoke has cleared for Washington fans, as things will start to get much clearer now for the future.
Their future core will now consist of a big three of John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter.
Last off-season, Bradley Beal signed a max deal with Washington for 5 years/$127 million. This off-season, Otto Porter got signed to one of the most laughable deals in free agency history at 4 years/$106 million. Washington had no leverage in negotiations. They had to make this deal.
Now, for the real news that transpired today. According to David Aldridge of TNT, John Wall has reportedly agreed to 4-year extension with the Wizards worth over $170 million.
Earlier this month, Wall was hesitant to do so, but now the future is clear in D.C. It’s Wall, Porter, and Beal. In a weakened Eastern Conference, with Cleveland in turmoil, anything can happen.
The details of Wall’s contract were released as well. Wall will be getting paid a total of $207 Million through 2023 with the Wizards. This is when you factor in his current deal. The extension kicks in 2019 and Wall will be getting paid $37.1 Million for that year. This is apart of Wall’s agreement to the designated player exception.
Alright D.C., it’s all coming together. Here is your direction.
