Besides not knowing how to spell his name, there was a lot of unknowns with Giannis. Was he a point guard or a forward? How would his ball handling abilities be? Will his shot ever materialize in the NBA? Well, it seems Giannis has answered all of those questions. While his three point shooting could still improve, the “Greek Freak” has risen the ranks dramatically over the last year. In the 2015/2016 season, he averaged 16.9 points on 50% shooting, with 4.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game. Those numbers sound fantastic already and is already way above the NBA average. For Giannis, though, it was only the tip of the iceberg.
For the 2017 season, Giannis improved his numbers to 22.9 points on 52% shooting, with 5.4 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game. Yeah, that’s crazy. Not only did Giannis improve on his numbers in every way, he also becomes a real locker room leader for the Bucks all season long. So when you talk about the NBA’s most improved player, what better way to improve than by elevating your physical and mental game to whole new levels?
