Breaking: 76ers And Joel Embiid Agree To Five-Year/$148 Million Max Contract Extension


Trusting the process just got a whole lot more expensive.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a five-year, $148 million extension. The contract includes a cap protection for Philly if Embiid misses significant time due to injury.

Only playing about 30 games in the last couple of years, Embiid hasn't had a whole lot of time to prove he's worth this contract. But when he has on the floor during last season's encouraging run, his play on the floor was nothing short of remarkable.

Being able to shoot, rebound, block, and post-up, Embiid has everything a team would want in the modern Center. But if he can't stay healthy, the Sixers may come to regret this decision.
