Much has been expected of Ben Simmons since his induction in the league. His Lebron-Esq abilities came with some superior expectations. But since injuring his ankle early last season, the Rook never got the chance to prove himself.
But now it looks like that chance may finally come. And for Simmons, he isn't being shy about his expectations for this upcoming season. In an exclusive with ESPN, he shares what's on his mind about finally being back on the court:
"My goal is to be the best in the league. I'm not worried about other rookies -- I'm worried about the guys at the top, and that's where I want to be."
You heard it from him first. Simmons doesn't want to be compared to other Rookies. He's reaching for the sky this year, and will stop at nothing to be the best.
While those expectations may not be the most realistic, it can be a hint as to what we could see in the future. The 6'10" forward can do it all on the court and has often drawn comparisons to LeBron James and Magic Johnson. Now it's up to him to prove that all that talk isn't just a bluff.
