Blake Griffin will no doubt have a long list of Free Agent suitors come July 1st. And while many teams are making a run at him, the amount of teams he's actually willing to meet with are limited.
Of course the Clippers, Celtics, and Heat are probably on that short list. But one team most would never consider is the Phoenix Suns. According to Brad Turner, Blake intends to meet with the Suns, who can offer him a 4 year, $130 million contract.
In the past, the the Suns have failed in recruiting a true star. LaMarcus Aldridge is a prime example of that, having ultimately declined the Suns for San Antonio. The seemingly endless rejections haven't sopped the organization though. And now with a promising young prospect in Devin Booker, they may have some leverage for the future.
The acquisition of Griffin would make a lot of sense for Phoenix. He would provide them star power in the front-court, to pair with Booker and the young back-court. Griffin would be the leader of the team, and would probably lure in a few more Free Agents to the city as well.
Faced with a big decision in these coming weeks, Blake could be in for a brand new chapter. And no matter how unlikely it seems, that chapter could start in Phoenix.
