The race for the NBA Championship is looking more exciting than ever, with the odds changing each week. With the playoffs right around the corner, it’s time to consider which teams have the best chance of winning the title. Currently, the Phoenix Suns have the best record in the league, and are ranked as the number one favorites. However, there are still a lot of games left to play, and anything could happen.
Other favorites for the title race include the Golden State Warriors, defending champions Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets. The season has been full of twists and turns, and the playoffs could still produce some shocks. One of the biggest shocks of this season so far has been the Lakers dropping out of contention. Despite being the favorites at the start of the season, they’re now unable to make the playoffs.
At Betway, the Phoenix Suns are currently favorites at +260, while the Milwaukee Bucks are a little ways behind at +550. Still, there are plenty of other teams that could pull off an upset, and anything is possible once the playoffs get underway. Here are some of the best teams and their chances of success.
The Phoenix Suns
The Suns have never won the NBA Championship, but they now find themselves as favorites after a strong season. Currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference with a 63-17 record, the Suns have a real chance of winning. They reached the finals last season, and are looking like an even better team this time. Their roster is stacked with talent, including a deep bench that gives them all the tools they need to go on a deep playoffs run once again.
In addition, this is a big season for Deandre Ayton, who is looking to prove his worth to sign a new contract. He’s now playing in the final year of his rookie contract, meaning a big season could make him a very attractive free agent for a lot of teams.
The Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have been the favorites for a lot of the season, but are currently ranked just behind the Suns. In the Western Conference, they currently have a record of 50-29, putting them in third, but this team has plenty of talent that could make the difference. Last season, the Warriors went out disappointingly in the play-in tournament, losing consecutive games to the Lakers and Grizzlies.
At the start of the season, the Warriors were predicted to do poorly, but they’ve exceeded expectations. Curry is scoring at a rate of 28.5 per game, back in contention for MVP status. In addition, Steve Kerr is considered one of the best options for coach of the year.
The Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks are the defending champions, and counting them out would be unwise. Currently, they’re third in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 49-30. Last season was huge for the Bucks, overcoming all the odds and winning the final against the Suns. Before the start of the season, people discredited their chances, mostly because of the limited offensive capabilities of Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, he had a brilliant season and one of the most dominant NBA finals performances ever.
This season, most wouldn’t have considered the Bucks to be contenders once again, but they have a real chance of defending their title. They now have championship experience, and the offensive and defensive abilities of Giannis could help them to succeed again. The Bucks have an elite defense, with Jrue Holiday being the difference maker compared to a lot of other great teams.
