Top 4 Overrated Players in the NBA

Top Overrated Players in the NBA

I have to tell you right now, this is a pretty nasty topic to write about because everyone has a different opinion. These four players are on the list because of a personal opinion of the writer of this article. But the more controversial it will be better.

Miles Plumlee (3.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.4 blocks, 13 min. per game)

We start this list in Milwaukee. They made a bad decision when they have signed a contract with Miles Plumlee giving him $50 million for 4 years. Why? Look at his stats, they are awful. And not just that, his influence on the court is negligible. 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds last year, are laughable comparing to his salary. He started only 14 out of 61 games that he have played and his performances weren't something amazing, and they haven't indicated that they, eventually, will cost $50 million.

Ok, he jumps high and knows how to dunk, but that will not get Milwaukee some advantage over other teams in the league. And why doing this when next year they have to give up $25 million to Antetokounmpo, and with this, they will narrow down their salary cap space. All in all Miles Plumlee is an overrated player. Period.

Ian Mahinmi (9.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 25.6 min. per game)

Ok, there is definitely something wrong with the Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld. $64 million for four years! That is even worse that Mike Conley's deal. This guy doesn't even have double figures in points, yet among rebounds. He's career stats are terrible, 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds, last year he had 9.3 points and 7.1 rebound, but that is not something worth $16 million dollars. Especially now, when he is injured.

It is hard to believe that Stephen Curry's salary is around $4 million lower than Mahinmi's. And considered for players who are playing the same position, behind him are Pau Gasol, Tristan Thompson, Andrew Bogut and Vucevic. A whole bunch of better, more talented and more influential players. Mahinmi is below the average, you can see that from his stats, which are one-figured throughout his whole career. His salary is bigger than the number that you get when you add up his point and rebound figures. Odd isn't it?

He scored 2248 points in his career and has 1897 rebounds. Also, he made 1117 fouls. Great points to fouls ratio. And this is the guy who has more money than let's say Draymond Green.

Mike Conley (it's not about stats, but money)

Why on earth is somebody giving this guy the highest contract in the history of basketball? Is this some kind of marketing trick, because of publicity? I mean he is a solid player, but my God why doing this thing. Let's look reasonably on this situation. He doesn't have any particular skills that other players in the league don't have.

He is an average playmaker, he has 29 years, and you will be giving in four years time, 30+ million dollars per season to 33-years old veteran playmaker, who by the way has high-risk of getting injured. Look at the last season's situation, when he missed a solid number of games because of Achilles' tendon. Ok, he has the best assist to turnover ratio in the league, 4.07 last year, but let's face it that is just not enough. He is god guy, with his NBA sportsmanship awards, but that does not play on the court. He isn't the player that is going to lead you throughout the playoff or the guy who has credit with the referees. He is truly an above average league player, but not top class. With all due respect toward Mike, he has to be on this list.

Allen Crabbe (8.9 points, 1.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 28.6 min. per game)

Let's put it like this. This fella has a bigger salary than Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, John Wall. And he isn't half the player that these guys are. And that is a fact. I mean who the hell is Allen Crabbe?

His last season was the first one in which he played a regular number of games, after 66 combined in first two. 10.3 points and 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists, last season is just not enough for this kind of money. We haven't told you how much is that, but we will at the end of the text.

This season started in the same style, and we pretty much don't get it why Portland Trail Blazers made this expensive choice. They could get some decent center and make their game more versatile. Don't get us wrong, we love Trail Blazers, but their game is one-sided at the moment, with not much offensive solutions under the rim. With the salary like this and roster where your teammates are Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, most of the big man in NBA would very much like to take a part in this franchise. By the way, Crabbe gets $18.5 million per year. Overrated a bit, don't you think?
