Ok, so let’s get this straight, the Chicago Bulls are not performing as well as they were expected to. With stars like Jimmy Butler, Rajan Rondo and Wade no one expected them to be the 9th seed in the east.
So, here are three top players who can help the Chicago Bulls achieve their potential.
Tony Allen will provide a lot of defensive strength. Chicago Bulls will need the hustle and energy he brings to a team. He also made the All-Defensive first team last year and will be hoping to make it this year as well. Offensively, he is known to move very well without the ball, is a good finisher at the rim and is very experienced at the age of 34. This season he averages 9.9 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, 1.8 steals, field goal percentage of 47.3 percent and he is averaging more points than he ever did in his twelve years in the league.
Imagine a defensive duo with Jimmy Butler and Tony Allen. They can lock any backcourt in the league.
There are also questions about how many years more will he last in a league which demands a lot of physical abilities; will he keep on playing with the same hustle and energy for the next 2-3 years? And who are the Bulls willing to give away for a 34-year-old veteran? One good choice will be Doug McDermott or Taj Gibson.
An all-star center is something the Bulls need right now and that is something they can get in Brook Lopez. Lopez who averages 20.4 points, 2.5 assists and 1.8 blocks per game is everything a team would be looking for as a center. He is a good free throw shooter, a great finisher at the rim and is a better option than his brother Robin Lopez.
Another reason why the Bulls should pursue Brook is because of his shooting. He shoots 46.4% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc. He has a higher 3-points shooting% than Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade! The Bull’s current center Robin Lopez doesn’t have a great shooting ability and Brook being a great shooter can help them sway the game in their favor.
The same question arises what will the Bulls have to give away to acquire Lopez? Giving away some of the young players and a 2017 first round draft pick could probably lure the nets into trading Brook.
Having the best center in the league will surely make the Bulls the top contenders in the East. Cousins who display incredible post play, good finishing around the rim, admirable defense and some great three point shooting can end the Bull’s struggles and make them a top team.
As of now Cousins is averaging 29.1 points, 3.5 assists, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He shoots at 45.8% from inside and 38.3% from outside the line. There have been a lot of talk about his hot-headedness, techs, and the ejections he faces but he will improve if he plays in a better and winning environment.
Cousins also said that he loved playing with Rondo because Rajon averaged 11.2 assists per game with DeMarcus as his center.
The Bulls are willing to exchange Denzel Valentine, Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic and Taj Gibson to get Cousins. It will relieve the Kings off Cousins whom they are apparently “frustrated with” and also give Dave Joerger (King’s coach) a whole new roster to play with.
