Tim Duncan Announces Retirement: The Legacy

Tim Duncan

San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan announced his retirement from the NBA on Monday after 19 seasons, ending weeks of speculation about his future.

He never cared about the money or the spotlight, he just simply loved the game. I've never seen a player that respectful and he hasn't changed one bit over his career. If this is the end of the road, thank you, Tim Duncan!

During his 19 seasons, Duncan averaged 19.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

He has been a pleasure to watch over the years. He was quietly dominant and really could kill you with ease in the paint.

5 time NBA champion and the number 1 reason why that Spurs franchise have been so consistent over the years.

He is the best Power Forward in the NBA History and after Kobe Bryant, we'll watch the next season without Tim Duncan, too.

An Open Letter To San Antonio Spurs Fans

"I went to my first game at six years old in Duncan's rookie year. I grew up with The Big Fundamental as my role model, my hero. He taught me to compete fiercely while respecting my competitors. He taught me that excellence comes from hard work and nothing else. He taught me that and so much more despite never meeting me, never shaking my hand, without saying one word. Watching this game that could be his last brought up emotions from very deep place inside me. I'm not ready to say goodbye yet, but if this is the end I stand here at 25 a better man because him.

Thank you, Tim Duncan. I love you."
