The Game Everyone Wants To Watch: Tune Squad vs. Monstars

Fadeaway World

Fadeaway World

Wouldn’t it be great if we got to see a Space Jam re-do? As that movie was an instant success most of us really loved growing up and we still cherish it nowadays, and we’ve always dreamed with a sequel that’s never come.

Today, we’re going to try and see which players would be a part of an imaginary Space Jam sequel, but this time we’re going to add a bit of a twist, as the Monstars aren’t going to steal anybody’s talent, but they’re still keen to use their powers for evil.

So, what we’re going to do here is pick 5 guys whose mission would consist in destroying the earth, while the Tune Squad would do everything it takes to try and stop them from doing so. Who you got?

PG: Russell Westbrook

You just know Russell Westbrook always have a secret agenda to try and prove he’s one of the best point guards in NBA history, and beware, as you just are not going to be able to contain him when he gets locked in with his competitive mindset, although that overconfidence at times could also be his greatest liability.

SG: Jimmy Butler

Despite being one of the best two way players in the league, it seems like Jimmy Butler has always been snubbed from public attention and most highlights, but he’s never been shy to let everybody know that he believes he’s a top-tier talent in the league, and all that resentment that has grown on him over the years due to the lack of recognition he’s gotten has him thirsty of revenge.

SF: Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is already considered to be the NBA’s biggest villain ever since he decided to join the Golden State Warriors, and he’s been called out for having burner accounts on social media to try and expose his haters, so there’s absolutely no surprise to see him be the Monstar’s captain, and also their best player, of course.

PF: Draymond Green

Everyone who’s not a Golden State fan just hates Draymond Green’s guts, as the hard-nosed defender is also one of the game’s most reckless trash talkers and isn’t afraid to speak his mind every time he gets the chance to do so, having that Charles Barkley kind of personality that would make him the ultimate Monstar as well.

C: DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins is a hell of a Monstar, he just bullies his way into the paint and makes the most out of his strength. Also, you just know he’s going to get a technical foul every time he sets foot on the hardwood and he always looks ready to fight somebody, regardless of if that someone is a part of his team, a rival, a referee or even a fan.

Tune Squad

PG: Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry’s the ultimate Tune Squad point guard, come on man, he even met his wife in church! Curry’s always trying to set a good example and he’s trying to just fight off that basketball thug image most stars have embraced over the course of history. Oh well, and the fact that he’s the best shooter this game has ever seen may also have something to do with our choice here.

SG: James Harden

James Harden is one of the kid’s favorite players. Of course, his Manu Ginobili-like moves, his craftiness, his ability to score at will and even finish through contact are a huge reason why that happens, but to be honest, children just love the beard. Everytime Harden steps on the hardwood, there are at least 20 kids wearing a fake beard to show their support for their hero.

SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo has to be by far the most humble and down to earth player in the NBA, and he hasn’t let the million of dollars, all the publicity and his quick rise to stardom change his personality or mindset a single bit. Coming off an extremely poor family, and still being pretty much a kid, Giannis has earned the right to be the Tune Squad captain, and he was just almost 2 years old when the movie premiered. That’s impressive.

PF: LeBron James

LeBron James has never been afraid to take a stand and speak his mind for what he believes it’s right, even recently stating that he’s not just going to shut up and dribble and he’s more than an athlete. His philanthropist nature and determination to set a positive example for children around the world, grant him a spot for the Tune Squad after also being considered a huge villain by Cavs fans not so long ago.

C: Anthony Davis

Everybody loves Anthony Davis, and his skill set is just ridiculous, constantly posting MVP caliber seasons but never being able to actually be in the conversation due to his team’s struggles to barely make the postseason. So today, we finally put him in the spot he deserves and where he’s a lock to shine, trying to save the world against the Monstars.
