The Cavaliers And Warriors Are Still Better Than The Celtics And Rockets

The 2017-2018 NBA season has tipped-off with a few teams surprising us and starting this season on the right foot, others disappointing so far and players impressing us with their play, but there has been a lot of talk about the new Boston Celtics led by Kyrie Irving and the Houston Rockets led by James Harden.

Both players have had phenomenal years so far as they have emerged as contenders for the MVP award. Kyrie Irving is leading the Boston Celtics to the best record in the NBA with 18-4 wins while averaging 22.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. On the other hand, James Harden is putting up great numbers, scoring 31.7 points and handing out 9.8 assists per game while leading this Rockets’ team to a 17-4 record; the best in the Western Conference.

The Cavs Are Better Than The Celtics

Even though the Cleveland Cavaliers started off this year with a 5-7 record, LeBron James had led his team to nine straight victories, improving the team’s record to 14-7 and reaching the third position in the Eastern Conference.

Dwayne Wade’s experience has shown in the last few games as he is getting more used to the Tyronn Lue system and is getting along better with his teammates. Kevin Love is also playing a lot better during this nine game spam showing that he is still one tough power forward who can play a big role for this Cavs squad. With the best player in the world possibly having the best year of his career so far, as he is averaging 28.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists while shooting a career-high 57.9% (!) from the field, the Cavaliers have nothing to worry about at least in the regular season.

Another important reason as to why the Cavaliers are better than the Celtics is the simple fact that Isaiah Thomas has not played a single game with his new team.

Expected to come back in late-December the 28-year old point guard will help LeBron James on the offensive side of the court, as he can score the basketball in a variety of ways. Rumors also have been going on about the Cavaliers possibly trading for Marc Gasol who seems disappointed in Memphis, and if this trade happens Cleveland’s team would improve even more, especially defensively.

The Warriors Are Better Than The Rockets

On the other hand, the Houston Rockets have started this season off exceptionally well even though Chris Paul missed 14 games to start the year. With James Harden leading the MVP ballot this year, the Rockets have shown that they want to contend for an NBA Championship.

Although the team has the best record in the Western Conference the defending champions still remain the best team on the West Coast. With a great 16-6 record the Warriors are second in the standings and have had some silly losses at home against average NBA teams.

If you look back in NBA history all the teams who have had championship runs for many straight years at some point they struggle early on in the regular season against mediocre teams and this is what is happening to the Warriors right now. Their offense is unstoppable and in any given night, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson could outshout opponents.

Even though the Houston Rockets and the Boston Celtics have started this season off exceptionally well and have a better record than the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers they are not better just yet as a twenty-game sample is too little to judge and make different assumptions.
