There's always a point in everyone;s lives that they reach a "dark place." It may last for different lengths, it may start at different times, but it is something everyone experiences at one point in thier lives.
For Derrick Rose, his dark place came came years ago, and it's apparently lasted until his fresh contract with the Cavs was signed.
On Saturday, Rose spoke about his basketball experience and how he's climbing out of a very bad time"
"I was in a dark place years ago, man. By a dark place, I mean, I was playing, like, revenge basketball, and that wasn't my way of playing basketball.
"I enjoy competing, but when I came back it was about just trying to get back to the top and proving everybody wrong. Like, I know who I am as a man, I know who I am as a player or person. There's no point in doing that anymore. It's just being secure as a person and knowing who I am."
For Rose, things have never been the same after tearing his ACL in 2012. The former MVP point guard was at the top of the world before the injury, just playing his game.
But since his terrible injury, he's fallen far from his glory days. Barely being able to stay healthy, Rose's career has taken a backspin the past few years. His last years in Chicago, his stint in New York, it became an absolute nightmare for the fallen star.
After signing just a measly 2 million contract with the Cavs while likely coming off the bench when I.T. comes back, it's up to Rose to come back from rock-bottom. Only he can bring back the magic he was once so filled with just a few years ago.
