Thunder set on Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook du

After Russell Westbrook extended his contract for two more years, future is a bit stabile for Oklahoma City Thunder. Russ’s departure will be the last nail in the coffin that will grant Oklahoma couple of years in the bottom of the Western Conference.

Luckily for them, opposite happen. Oklahoma with roster Westbrook - Oladipo - Robertson - Ilyasova - Adams will not be on the winning side in most cases, but in next years young core with some additions can bring to Oklahoma City exciting basketball games in the middle of May.

They sure need to wait a couple of seasons for that, but Thunder fans need to be patient and optimistic. One guy that can help them in achieving that is their City boy.

Little freckled boy that grown up into one of the best PF in the NBA right now. Their savior is Slam Dunk Champion from 2011, Blake Griffin. He played college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners, when he was named the Consensus National Player of the Year as a sophomore.

He is under the contract with the Clippers for one more season and maybe he would like to play for his hometown.

Los Angeles Clippers in their entire history reached Western Conference Semi-Finals only four times. And lost every time. If you want to chase a Championship, Clippers are not right franchise to join.

They are called “the worst franchise in sports history” from Sports Illustrated. If they don’t do something great this season, they could be out of the playoff for next few years. How is that even possible? Chris Paul’s contract is expiring next year, Blake Griffin’s contract too, Crawford is old and can’t contribute too much, Paul Pierce will retire next year (probably) and the only guy that will stay in Los Angeles is DeAndre Jordan.

DeAndre is not a guy that can lead one franchise on his shoulders, so this season is last for them to do something significantly. In another case, top players could leave Los Angeles and the Clippers will be cemented at the bottom of the table.

Blake Griffin will perfectly fit in Oklahoma and replace Ilyasova at the power forward position. Combining him and Russ together will be a recipe for the NBA Harlem Globetrotters. Both of them are full of explosivity and athleticism and they will bestow us great dunks every night.

The combination of Russell Westbrook and Blake Griffin could be the best one-two punch in the NBA.

From the Vertical:

Durant is deleted. Done and gone and no longer part of his world. "What's next?" he asked - and the Thunder connected with Westbrook on a plan to construct their next act. Once, it was James Harden and Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Now, it's a superstar solo act - with an eye upon Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin in 2017 free agency. Griffin is an Oklahoma kid gone Hollywood, a star who has his own tensions with Chris Paul on the Clippers.

They could have one of the best starting lineup in the league, with Russell Westbrook, Victor Oladipo, Blake Griffin and Steven Adams (the underrated). They should find a better small forward than Robertson, but they will have enough time next season.

The interesting option could be if Oklahoma City Thunder decide to tank next year, they could get one of the top picks in the NBA Draft 2017. However, this is just the option, and nothing more than that.

After Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors and Wade with Chicago Bulls, it's not impossible to watch Blake Griffin in Oklahoma City (hometown) next year.

Until that happen, we can expect from Russell Westbrook 30 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists per game.
