Top 10 Shortest Players in NBA History


The average height of regular basketball player should be 6’7” from 1985 to 2006. Though, tall height is the main factor for playing basketball, but it is not same always. There are also some shortest NBA players who dominated in the past and some are still dominating in the basketball game. Most of them are able to jump higher and run faster than the average tall players.

Only 23 players in NBA history have been at a listed height of 5 feet, 9 inches or shorter. Two are currently active. The shortest NBA player, and only player at this height to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is Calvin Murphy, at 5 feet, 9 inches. With one exception, Dino Martin (a forward), all of the players listed here have played or play the position of point guard.

10. Charlie Chriss - Height: 5' 8" (1.73 meters)

9. Spud Webb - Height: 5' 7" (1.70 meters)

NBA Stats: 814 games, 9.9 points, 5.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. He was NBA Slam Dunk Champion 1986.

8. Monte Towe - Height: 5' 7" (1.70 meters)


NBA Stats: 51 games, 2.5 points, 1.7 assists. He was the shortest player in the ABA League history.

7. Wataru Misaka - Height: 5' 7" (1.70 meters)


NBA Stats: He played only 3 games and scored 7 points. He was the first Non-Caucasian player and first Asian player in the NBA.

NBA Stats: He played only 11 games and scored 15 points. He is the shortest player to ever win an NBA Finals championship.
