There’s no doubt that when it comes to the NBA’s coveted throne, Michael Jordan and LeBron James are perched atop, with the rest of the NBA’s legends a step below the pair. But when it comes to who’s higher on the throne compared to the other, that’s still up for discussion.
According to LeBron’s teammate J.R. Smith however, James has already surpassed Jordan as the greatest player to ever play in the NBA.
During an interview with Victor Cruz on his self-titled show via UNINTERRUPTED, Smith explains how his views on the NBA’s GOAT changed after the Cavs’ 2016 NBA title.

It’s no wonder J.R. feels as though James is the greatest to ever play the sport of basketball, as Smith has been there to witness some of King James’ greatest moments, including Cleveland’s historic 3-1 comeback over the 73-9 Golden State Warriors in the 2016 Finals, capped off with James’ unreal chasedown block on Andre Iguodala to save their title hopes.
Smith doesn’t just claim LeBron is the GOAT either, he actually explains his reasoning by mentioning how consistent LeBron has been over his entire career, and the vast amount of accolades James has racked up over his 15 years in the league.
At 33 years of age, and having one of his most impressive seasons to date, it doesn’t seem as though LeBron is done writing his basketball resume just yet.
