This year’s regular season is almost entirely on the books already and with the playoff picture already looking quite steady and most teams out of contention, we can already jump ahead and start talking about this campaign’s biggest disappointments.

There were some teams that were pleasant surprises like the Indiana Pacers, on a year they were supposed to be one of the worst teams in the Association following the Paul George trade and now fighting to get the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference.

On the other hand, there were some teams that even though weren’t Championship contenders, we all hoped they were going to make the playoffs or at least be on the run for a spot until the very end of the season. Today, we’re going to let you know about the top 5 disappointing teams of the season.

To be fair, this one wasn’t much of a disappointment as we all knew this team didn’t have the kind of players (except Marc Gasol and Mike Conley) to make a playoffs run following the separation of their core with Tony Allen and Zach Randolph leaving the team during the offseason.

Still, Chandler Parsons was a major disappointment once again and Mike Conley’s injury was a major blow for this team. Rebuilding seems like the way to go at the Grindhouse, but following 7 straight playoff trips, this team was a major bust throughout the whole season.

4. Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks are going to be in the playoffs this season, but after trading for Eric Bledsoe to round up an already scary squad featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jabari Parker and Thom Maker, they have only been able to record 41 wins up to this date.

Milwaukee even fired coach Jason Kidd as they thought the team was supposed to be quite higher in the standings, with this season supposed to be their breakout year where they could make a lot of noise in the postseason.

The Detroit Pistons were actually playing very good basketball to begin the year before they decided to trade for Blake Griffin and send Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and Avery Bradley to the Los Angeles Clippers, something that truly messed up with their chemistry.

Griffin’s addition actually sunk the Pistons up to the point where they completely fell off the playoff race, while Reggie Jackson missed most of the season with yet another injury, something quite disappointing considering they were supposed to have a better roster than other playoffs teams like the Pacers.

2. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets were supposed to at least be contending for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference but shot themselves in the foot over and over, while Dwight Howard is looking more and more like a washed out player despite a couple of impressive performances over the season.

Kemba Walker failed to lead this team to the playoffs once again, while Nicolas Batum doesn’t look like an NBA player anymore. This team looked ready to take the leap and become a steady contender in the East but even failed to get their star rookie Malik Monk involved in the offensive end of the floor.

1. Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have fallen short once again this season and it comes as a major disappointment considering this team made a huge investment in order to bring Paul Millsap on board, but not only he was forced to miss most of the season with injury, but they’re not likely to make the playoffs even upon his return.

Jamal Murray had a great year and Nikola Jokic is surging as a top-tier offensive big man, while Gary Harris’ continues to flourish in both ends of the court, but none of that has been enough to end their playoff drought.
