Fadeaway World

Damian Lillard is back at it, being one of the most productive and explosive players in the world but not getting the kind of recognition he deserves for it, but most importantly, not getting enough help from his incapable support cast.

Other than CJ McCollum, Damian is pretty much left alone on an island in the Portland Trail Blazers, so despite his season averages of 25.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.2 dimes and 0.9 steals per game, RIP City sits at the 6th seed in the Western Conference.

There’s absolutely no doubt about Lillard’s talent, but it just feels like Portland needs to acquire more gifted players if they intend to keep him happy and not demand a trade as it was rumored early in the campaign.

Today, we’re going to let you know about 5 players that could be extremely helpful for Damian Lillard and thus, the Portland Trail Blazers.

5. Julius Randle

Julius Randle has been on the trade block for quite a long time right now and his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers seems like a done deal at this point of the season, although his destination is still up in the air.

Randle hasn’t been as good as the Lakers expected out of the gate, but he’s still improved in every aspect of his game and has even looked capable of putting the rock in the ground and leading fast breaks, and the Blazers big men have been a huge disappointment this year just like the prior campaign.

4. Derrick Favors

On that same note, we’ve got Derrick Favors, who’s not a defensive minded big man but he’s quite gifted on the offensive end of the floor and could provide a nice boost off the bench like Enes Kanter used to do for the Thunder.

Favors is a decent scorer and very good rebounder and paired with defensive-minded big men like Ed Davis, he could be a very good asset in the team’s second unit, and he shouldn’t be difficult to get considering he’s set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

3. Monta Ellis

Monta Ellis is still a free agent despite still being capable to put a lot of work off the bench for contending sides, and that’s something that’s still quite odd and bizarre considering he’s a terrific scorer and ball handler.

Ellis could lead the way in the team’s second unit and he’d be a major upgrade over Shabazz Napier, although there’s no reason to think he couldn’t play off-ball as the two guard, developing a very good substitute backcourt that could drive defenses nut while Lillard and McCollum rest.

2. DeAndre Jordan

Jordan’s case has been all over the media since the start of the season, and now that Blake Griffin’s gone, he’s been left alone on the team after all the teammates that made a run at him to try and convince him not to sign with the Mavs have left the Staples.

The Clippers are going through a major overhaul and they’re kick-starting their rebuild mode right away, and he’d be a major upgrade over Jusuf Nurkic as their rim protector, with Nurkic coming off the bench to really round up and balance this squad.

1. Jordan Clarkson

Just like Julius Randle, it’s pretty much a fact that Jordan Clarkson is going to leave the Lakers to help them clear cap space and offer max deals to a couple of All-Stars like Paul George and LeBron James in this upcoming offseason to go back to their former glories.

Still, Clarkson has proven to be an explosive scorer and terrific playmaker off the bench for the Lakers, so he should draw a lot of interest going forward. Also, the Blazers could feature three-guard lineups at times with him, considering he’s also a great off-ball player and a very good shooter.
