When the Cleveland Cavaliers finally let go of their beloved point-guard, most assumed that it’d be the end of any more drama regarding the subject.
Those folks couldn’t be more wrong.
In a slew of recent rumors and reports, a number of new developments behind the Kyrie Irving/Cavaliers trade rumors are now being made public, and it has brought the situation into a whole new light.
In a recent chat with ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan, Irving revealed that the situation isn’t as straightforward as everyone thought, even adding that the team didn’t want him there anyway.
“Leaving was inevitable,” he proclaimed. “I could feel it.”
The 25-year-old superstar believes his departure from the Cavs was “distorted” because he decided against speaking publicly about the situation amid a flurry of rumors and speculation following his trade request.
“I didn’t feel the need to say anything because I knew the truth, and so did they,” Irving said. “So it didn’t matter what others said. They didn’t want me there.”
For Uncle Drew, the decision to part ways with the team that drafted him 7 years ago couldn’t have been an easy one. But after much of the trust was lost on both sides, it seems he didn’t have much of a choice in the end.
