Regarding Vince Carter’s storied and accomplished career, Toronto will always be the place he’ll be most remembered.
Today, with his career winding down, Carter still hasn’t forgotten where he truly came from. Playing in his 20th season in the league, the former Raptor returned to the court in Toronto on Sunday for perhaps the final time. All indications are that the 40-year-old will retire come the end of the season. But after tonight’s game against his former team, Carter hinted at a return to the place where his basketball career was made.
Although the Kings ultimately walked away with an L, the fans made sure to give their beloved veteran star a roaring send-off, standing and cheering when he was subbed out for the final time. In words to media following the game, Carter gave a hint that he may have one more move to make before walking away for good.
Somehow, whether it’s one day or something, it’ll happen. It’s supposed to happen, I think. I can say that now.
It’s no secret that Vince and the Raptors organization did not part on very good terms when he left the team originally. But after re-kindling their relationship back in 2014 (with V.C. being driven to tears), a final reunion between the two sides is definitely not something of fiction.
