Kevin Durant is an MVP, a scoring leader, an 8-time NBA all-star, and the second best player on the planet. But more than anything else, Kevin Durant is a champion.
When he made the hugely controversial decision to sign with the Warriors last summer, it changed the NBA landscape for good. The Warriors were already pretty good and, with Kevin Durant, they became something even more.
With the world on notice, they won the 2017 NBA Championship in record-breaking fashion. Durant was not only a part of it all, he leads the charge when the stakes were highest. He got some recognition for that when he won Finals MVP in June.
And now, he will get recognized again.
In GQ’s annual “Men of The Year” issue, Kevin Durant was named the 2017 Champion of the Year for the first time in his career.
The full issue will come out on Thursday, where GQ will go in-depth on Durant and the amazing year he had. But no matter what you think of him, it’s hard to argue that he hasn’t earned his place in history.
