On February 2nd 2017, Wilson Chandler of the Denver Nuggets came out and said he wants to be traded. He has been bumped out of the starting lineup. Chandler is averaging 15.4 PPG 6.7 RPG and 2.0 AST this season.
For the past couple of seasons we have heard Chandler’s name come up around the trade deadline but he will most likely be will be on the move this season. He obviously wants to be a starter so he will need to be traded to a team where he will start. So without further ado here are the top 3 teams he could get traded to.
3. New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans are loaded with big men and guards but they only have two small forwards on their roster – Solomon Hill and Dante Cunningham. Chandler would be a big upgrade for them at the SF position. He would also be a perfect fit as a swingman for the Pelicans. Chandler would be an instant impact for the pelicans.
The Pelicans are not going to make the playoffs this season with a 19-31 record. So maybe they want to keep their young guns and look ahead to the future but Chandler could definitely help them out right away with his scoring ability.
2. Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers are kind of in the same situation as they only have three small forwards on their roster: Paul Pierce, Wesley Johnson, and Luc Mbah a Moute, so Chandler would be a big upgrade for them also. Plus the Clippers are in need of another player to get them over the hump of a NBA title.
They are pursuing Carmelo Anthony so if they don’t get him then expect the Clips to go after Chandler. The Clippers are currently 4th in the west with a 31-19 record and have CP3 out for now. They need wins so they don’t fall to the bottom of the playoffs and Chandler should help them get some with his offense ability.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder
Not a big surprise here, the Thunder need a small forward after the loss of Kevin Durant. Their small forward spot is not great as they have Andre Roberson playing most of the minutes there and he is offensively challenged. The Thunder need points, their offense has been slacking since they lost Enes Kanter for at least 6 weeks. The Thunder have pursued Rudy Gay before his season ending injury.
They are desperate for a good small forward. This has to be the most likely place for Chandler to go if he gets traded this season. The Thunder are also on the edge of the playoffs so if Chandler went there they should get better and move up some spots in the West. They are currently 7th.
The question is how much better will each team get if they recieved Chandler? Well, the answer is each team would get better – even the Nuggets. Because the Nuggets are young they will probably want young players for him so that means in years to come the Nuggets will keep getting better and better.
