According to Sherrod Blakely, the Boston Celtics have began listening to offers for their top draft pick. The pick is actually Brooklyn’s, but it was given to The Celtics in agreement for the Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett trade. It seems that the Nets are headed toward the lottery, which means Boston would get their high pick.

With the Green team wanting to contend right now, they have decided to at least entertain trading away that pick. Here’s some big names that this pick may bring for the Celtics if they choose to trade it:

DeMarcus Cousins

It’s no secret that DeMarcus is not particularly happy in Sacramento. He’d presumably be much happier in a different situation. In Boston, he’d be reunited with his old teammate Isaiah Thomas, and he’d be in a situation to immediately contend. For Boston, they’d likely have to trade some young piece like Jaylen Brown, and a vet like Jae Crowder, along with that lottery pick.

Paul Millsap

The Hawks have begun what seems like a complete roster overhaul. When rebuilding a roster, what better way to start than with a high draft pick? The Celtics have seemingly everything the Hawks need to start fresh. Paul Millsap alongside his teammate Al Horford would be a welcoming site to witness. The Hawks would have a high pick, and would likely want a guy like Amir Johnson to help replace the presence of Millsap inside.

Brook Lopez

One team that would kill for a draft pick right now would be the Nets. Brook Lopez for the pick and some other notable player seems like a pretty fair trade. Lopez is a great post scorer who could change the offensive game for the Celtics. And for Brooklyn, they’d wipe themselves clean from Brook’s contract and finally have a way of acquiring some young talent.

Kenneth Faried

Sort of a long shot, but the Nuggets and Faried don’t see to be on the best terms right now. If Denver wants to start over, they could swap out Kenneth for Bostons’ pick. Faried in Boston would be huge because it would add athleticism and improved interior defense. Imagine a frontcourt of Horford and Faried? Pretty scary.

Now that a trade has finally been made, we can all wait and see what other moves may be coming. For Boston, it’s hard to imagine they will stay silent while their current team remains stuck in the middle.
