Steph Curry left the Warriors locker room on crutches Monday night after twisting his ankle in the final minute of Golden State’s win over the Pelicans. With all of Oakland holding his breath, he was taken for X-rays — which came bac negative.
On the play, Steph severely rolls his ankle trying to steal a pass. He landed awkwardly on his right ankle and was taken to the locker room shortly thereafter.
Reports indicate that Curry is in a walking-boot and critches with “severe” swelling around his ankle.
While an ankle sprain generally doesn’t cause too much concern, Steph has a history of ankle troubles in the past. It’s what held him back during his early years on the Warriors, and could hold him back now if the issues return. Obviously, there’s no reason to panic, as there’s been no indication this injury will be the first of more.
Nevertheless, it is never good to see a superstar go down like this. It seems Golden State is not as lucky this year as it has been in the recent past. With this in mind, can the Warriors maintain the level of dominance they’ve displayed the past few seasons? If it were any other team, perhaps not…
