Out of all the people to stick up for Lonzo, it came from the Golden State locker room.

Admittedly, Lonzo Ball has not had the best start to what many hope will be a fantastic NBA career. Averaging under double-figures for points, while shooting around 30%, Ball has made his struggles known throughout the league.

But for one Warriors player, he knows what that’s all about, and sticks up for the rookie in a way nobody else really can:

“He’s a rookie. He’s going through the ups and downs like every rookie has, whether you’re highly touted or not,” Stephen Curry explained, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “It’s all a learning experience, trying to find your way and be comfortable. Basically, my perception is he’s working through that. I’ve always said he’s a great talent, I think he loves to play basketball, so he’ll be able to fight through that and have a great career. I hope you didn’t judge me off my first 20 games in the league, either.”

You know, he makes a solid point.

Curry didn’t have a particularly hot start either, yet is known today as the best shooter to ever live. Still think Lonzo is a hopeless bust? Maybe you should slow down a bit with that, and that’s coming from Steph Curry himself.
