Once one of the NBA’s tighest relationships, the animosity between LeBron James and Kyrie Irving has seemingly grown extremely sour since Irving’s departure from Cleveland back in the offseason.

Both Irving and James have taken subtle shots at each other ever since Kyrie was traded to the Boston Celtics before the start of the season, indicating that perhaps things weren’t all sunshine and rainbows in Cleveland.

First, it was Kyrie who was filmed responding to a fan in a less than-PR friendly way after said fan shouted ‘LeBron James’ at Irving. Then it was LeBron posting cryptic memes on Instagram entitled ‘Mood…’ after the Celtics’ incredible start to the season.

Now, however, LeBron has pumped it up a notch after his latest comments praising his new point guard Isaiah Thomas after he was asked on Thomas’ return schedule.

“It’s been a while since I’ve had that clear-cut guy who can get guys involved but also score at the same time,” James told B/R Mag. “But it’s fine. It’s something that our team will make an adjustment to.”

Even though the comments don’t directly mention Irving, we all know who James is referencing.

James is bringing up the fact that Kyrie wasn’t considered much of a facilitator during his time in Cleveland, as LeBron went as far as calling Kyrie out early on when Irving finished a game with zero assists.

Another indicator that points towards a direct shot at Kyrie is the fact Thomas isn’t that much of a facilitator either, even though LBJ is praising him for it. IT averaged 5.9 assists last season, while Kyrie averaged 5.8.

The Cavaliers have struggled mightily without a star point guard running the show, as they currently sit on a 7-7 record after a disastrous start to the season, whereas the Celtics have flourished with Kyrie at the helm.

Expect more drama to unfold between these two in the near future.
