The Los Angeles Lakers come into the 2017-18 NBA season full of hope, having drafted their franchise point guard in the form of Lonzo Ball after trading away former starting PG D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets.
It seems however that the marketing team for the Lakers didn’t get the memo.
In a preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers displayed advertisements for their ‘mobile stickers’ for both Andriod and iPhone on the jumbotron, and it included a familiar face.

Quite an embarrassing mistake for one of the most well-respected franchises in the NBA.
How would you feel if you were Lonzo Ball or D-Lo? On Lonzo’s side, the franchise that just drafted you couldn’t even be bothered to change their marketing campaign to include you, and for Russell, your former team is still using your likeness in ads during home games.
What makes the whole situation even worse is that Russell didn’t leave Los Angeles on the best of terms either, with team president Magic Johnson throwing shade at D-Lo as he walked out the door.
“What I needed was a leader. I needed somebody that can make the other players better and also somebody that players want to play with.”
After the gaffe was plastered over Twitter, you can be sure the Lakers will have changed their jumbotron graphics before their next home game.
