Fadeaway World

As you all surely know at this point, Cleveland Cavaliers’ All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving recently requested the team’s front office to trade him, as the 1 time NBA Champion is eager to be once again the focal point of a team’s offense and is sick and tired of playing alongside 4 time MVP LeBron James.

Of course, that has started a lot of controversy and heat among the league, the media, the fans and even former players, with everybody having their say regarding this matter and whether Kyrie should actually leave the team or not.

Nonetheless, it seems like Irving’s departure is closer and closer, as his trade value keeps dropping on a daily basis, and the Cavs reportedly have absolutely no interest in forcing him to stay until the end of his contract.

So today, we’ll talk about 10 possible Kyrie Irving trades, starting with 5 completely crazy and non-realistic trade packages and then top 5 deals that may actually happen.

5 Unrealistic Trades

5. Chicago Bulls – Unrealistic Trade Level 85

The Bulls could actually try to acquire Kyrie Irving by sending Dwyane Wade, Zach LaVine and Bobby Portis to the Cavs, kickstarting their new project with Kyrie as their franchise player.

With that deal, LaVine would shift back to the shooting guard spot while Wade might as well be the Cavs brand new playmaker thriving once again alongside LeBron, and Bobby Portis helps the squad off the bench while he keeps improving on the defensive end.

4. Philadelphia 76ers – Unrealistic Trade Level 90

If the Philadelphia 76ers want fans to keep trusting the process, they might as well try to land the former Rookie of the Year by sending one of the frontrunners to win the distinction this upcoming season and a guy that was really close to win in the last season: Ben Simmons and Dario Saric.

While Saric would be an incredible young veteran boost for any squad at either forward position, Simmons would be thrilled to play alongside LeBron after training with him and being able to emulate his game as two very similar players.

3. Washington Wizards – Unrealistic Trade Level 93

Ok, this one is a very tricky one and it could even be a huge steal from the Cavs front office. The Cleveland Cavaliers could ask for John Wall after recently signing a very lucrative contract extension while just sending Kyrie to the nation’s capital.

Kyrie and Beal would be a killer back court on the offensive end on the court, but the real winners would be the Cavs with the addition of the best point guard in the Eastern Conference and a much better defender than Irving.

2. Los Angeles Lakers – Unrealistic Trade Level 95

This move may make most Los Angeles Lakers fans go crazy, although it would be a huge step on the team’s win-now mentality after a couple of incredibly mediocre seasons, sending Lonzo Ball, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson to Cleveland in exchange for Kyrie.

Kyrie would help the team improve out of the gate with his versatile and crafty offense, and they would thrive when Paul George decides to join the team, but considering the fact that the Lakers actually want to make a move at LeBron and are quite thrilled with the idea of Ball running their offense for the long run, it’s very unlikely that they’d even consider doing this.

1. Golden State Warriors – Unrealistic Trade Level 99

Ok, we definitely went nuts right here, but could you just imagine this? Picture it: Kyrie Irving, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Zaza Pachulia knocking fans off their feet in the most entertaining offense the league has seen in ages.

Of course, that would mean parting ways with two of the team’s best defenders on Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson and that would definitely take a huge toll on their contention chances, so we don’t see that happening anytime soon.

5 Realistic Trades

5. Detroit Pistons – Trade Chance 15%

Kyrie Irving would definitely have all offense flowing through him in Michigan, while they may finally get rid of Reggie Jackson after the former Oklahoma City Thunder backup point guard became a major flop and lousy signing.

Jackson would go back to being an average player alongside LeBron, while the Cavs would also have Andre Drummond as their new big guy in the paint, leaving the door open for a Tristan Thompson trade and significantly improving their starting unit.

4. Minnesota Timberwolves – Trade Chance 45%

The Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers could be engaged in yet another huge trade involving Canadian youngster Andrew Wiggins, whom they’d pair with Gorgui Dieng in order to bring Kyrie to play for Tom Thibodeau.

The Cavs would be thrilled to make this move, landing the former 1st overall pick to play alongside the guy they got with that trade, while Dieng would be a huge boost off the bench on defense for Cleveland.

3. Boston Celtics – Trade Chance 60%

When the Kyrie Irving trade request leaked, one of the moves that made way more sense for Cleveland was sending him to the Celtics, although the possibility of actually helping their rivals improve really made everybody doubt that this move was likely to happen.

Nonetheless, Kyrie reportedly wants to play under Brad Stevens or Gregg Popovich’s tutelage, and considering Isaiah Thomas’ bargain deal is set to expire, Danny Ainge could try to send the tweener to the Q alongside a Brooklyn Net 1st rounder, Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder, while Kyrie would thrive on one of the world’s biggest markets.

2. San Antonio Spurs – Trade Chance 75%

As we mentioned before, Kyrie also would see a move to Texas with good eyes, and considering that Tony Parker is nearing the end of his very successful career and LaMarcus Aldridge wants to leave the team, the Spurs could pull the trigger by sending him, Danny Green and David Bertans to Cleveland in order to land Kyrie.

Thus, Kyrie landing on the Spurs would also demand a lot of maturity out of him, as Gregg Popovich won’t tolerate selfishness or ball hogging, and it’s pretty clear that they’re Kawhi Leonard’s squad right now, so this move could actually backfire if he’s not truly committed to the franchise.

1. Phoenix Suns – Trade Chance 80%

And the most likely to happen trade that would also be very beneficial for both franchises would be moving Kyrie to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, two-way impressive prospect Josh Jackson and the future 1st Round pick.

For some insiders, Jackson was actually the most talented player in this year’s draft due to his offensive upside and already NBA ready defense, so it would be kind of hard for the Suns to part ways with him, while the Cavs would have a very talented yet injury prone point guard in Bledsoe.

This move would significantly improve the Suns’ ongoing project, although there would be a lot of defensive concerns if Kyrie plays alongside Devin Booker, being perhaps the worst defensive backcourt in the Association, and probably the most talented young duo in the NBA.
