Fadeaway World

The summer has officially kicked off in the Association, with a lot of rumors and trades already swirling, like the D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov move to the Nets in exchange for Brook Lopez, or Dwight Howard to Charlotte with the Hawks landing Belinelli and Plumlee.

But, it obviously doesn’t stop there, as there are several interesting players that are poised to be dealt during this week as the NBA draft approaches, with teams looking to make the most of one of the most talent-loaded drafts in the past few years, either exchanging their picks or looking to rebuild for the future.

And today, we’ll take a look at the top 10 players that are most likely to leave their current team during the summer, so sit down and enjoy while we’re at it.

10. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Kidd-Gilchrist hasn’t actually been a very productive player, and he’s proneness to get hurt has made him a very unstable player who’s struggled to reach what was expected of him. Still, he’s kind of overrated and will definitely draw a lot of interest as one of the few tradeable assets Charlotte still owns.

9. Monta Ellis

With the Pacers entering rebuild mode amidst Paul George’s imminent departure, Monta Ellis is a prime trade candidate. Even if the veteran has seen his production take a huge dip over the last few seasons, he can still be a very productive piece off the bench for a team looking for another ball handler, so stay tuned for updates.

8. Kenneth Faried

Faried has been on the trade block for the past couple of seasons, and as the Nuggets thrive with Wilson Chandler spending a lot of time at the four, the Manimal looks more and more tradable as days go by, and he’ll definitely have several suitors for his ability to own the glass on both ends of the floor.

7. Reggie Jackson

Jackson has been a huge flop since signing that huge deal with the Pistons after the Oklahoma City Thunder decided to part ways with him, proving he’s nothing more than an overrated point guard that tried to make a living out of a couple of good games. And with the Pistons looking so bad lately and the fact that he wasn’t even a starter over the last passage of the prior season, expect Detroit to try and unload his contract in exchange for minor assets.

6. Jeremy Lin

I guess it’s pretty safe to say that Linsanity was nothing more than a fluke, and to this day the fact that Lin’s still in the league is kind of surprising. Still, with his subpar playmaking ability, he’s proven to be a streaky scorer, but with the Nets already landing Russell and considering how injury prone he is, it’s very likely that Lin gets dealt yet another time during this summer.

5. Thaddeus Young

Young’s pretty much in Ellis’ situation as well, and even if he was a major disappointment for the Pacers coming with a lot of praise as a nice signing during the past offseason, he can still be very helpful for a contender in exchange for some youngsters to pair with Myles Turner to try and build around their talented center.

4. Luol Deng

Deng’s prime is way behind him and he had more of a mentoring role on this young Lakers’ team than an actual starring role, and with Magic Johnson looking to clear cap space for the 2017-18 season, look for a team in need of a veteran scorer to land the former Bull and Cavalier in exchange for pretty much nothing.

3. Jordan Clarkson

Sadly for the Lakers, that would most likely mean they have to part ways with Clarkson also, but they could actually get some nice value out of the scoring combo guard, who’s proven to be more than capable of running the second unit of a team. They will probably trade him for the Draft picks or for the All-Star player, with Julius Randle, Nick Young or Luol Deng.

2. Ricky Rubio

Let’s face it: Rubio’s good, but he’s not that good, and he’ll probably never reach the ceiling we all expected him to do. And with his name being on the trade block for a very long time now, and the Wolves already having Kris Dunn, Tyus Jones and even Zach LaVine, Rubio’s more than expendable right now, and he could actually provide some nice value for Tom Thibodeau.

1. Arron Afflalo

And last but not least, we have Arron Afflalo. Afflalo has been a very productive player over his entire career, but he’s not getting any younger and he’d definitely be better suited elsewhere on a team in need of veterans off the bench. And with Buddy Hield on board as the lone scoring option in SacTown nowadays, he’s the odd man out and perhaps their only hope to land another pick in this upcoming draft.
